Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's European Integration Committee and Sven Giegold, the State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, on Wednesday discussed relations between the two countries.
The Committee said the meeting reviewed Germany’s support for Georgia’s integration into the European Union and the country’s relations with the bloc.
The conversation also touched on the Georgian Government’s foreign policy priorities and expectations, as well as the importance of strengthening political dialogue and economic relations.
Giegold earlier today also met Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Economy Minister of Georgia, where the two officials discussed economic cooperation.
Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament's European Integration Committee, on Tuesday reviewed Georgia-European Union cooperation and the role of the bloc in “ensuring peace and stability” in the country at the Inter-Parliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy in Bruges.
Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy of Georgia and Sven Giegold, the State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, on Wednesday discussed cooperation between the two countries in tourism, trade and investments.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday highlighted the “significant” role of the country in establishing “peace and stability” in the South Caucasus and said it was a “very important” and “reliable partner” for Germany, particularly in the face of a “challenging geopolitical region”.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Friday said his Government would support Georgia's path towards membership in the European Union and remain a “reliable partner” in the purpose.
